Let God lead you into less work (and more life).
"And He said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.'"
- Mark 2:27-28 (New King James Version)

A huge part of the re-alignment work God has been doing on me in this season has to do with slowing way down and doing way less. Leaving a LOT more room in my plans, my daily schedule, my decision making and my business model for all of it to breathe and not be so packed to the max. Whatever God is doing is working because I recently reviewed my "dream" schedule that I outlined earlier on in my wilderness experience and when I tell you it was a mess!? At the time I thought it was everything I wanted in a weekly schedule but now my eyes see all the clutter plain as day. God has truly changed my whole concept of how work should be. Now I see clearer than ever that:
We don't have to let our schedules or our businesses run us; we should be running them.
The Holy Spirit brought this week's scripture up to me as I contemplated how He's been altering work's place in my life. In this verse, Jesus is clapping back at religious leaders who are accusing Him and His disciples of not honoring God's ordained day of rest. As He explained ever so edge-snatchingly, their concept of the Sabbath was all wrong from the start. In their minds, the Sabbath was almost like a god; something that had to be obeyed like a master. But Jesus trashed that whole theory by sharing God's true heart behind it; that it was made to serve us, not the other way around.
In the same way, work was made for us, not us for work. We're made to enjoy our work, to control & have dominion over it, not be controlled by it.
There are so many implications to this concept, but the main one I want to make sure you get today is that you are not made to be a slave to your work. Work is YOUR slave. If you need 3 days a week off to get the maximum rest, play, time with God, family & self care in, tell your schedule what to do for you. Tell your business we not doing fiftyleven things right now. And tell all those voices yelling at you to scale to nineteen figures in one year to shut up talking to you. You're in the driver's seat. And God has given you the power to design your work to fit the lifestyle you truly dream about, not the one you're settling for because you think that's how it has to be.

- Ecclesiastes 5:3-6 → When I read these verses, they bring to mind how easily we overcommit ourselves and the results of it.
- Sidebar → if God is nudging you to slow down and do less too, read Ecclesiastes! I used to think this book of the Bible was such a negative perspective on life but I'm seeing it in a whole new light now. It's like He's saying the best thing you can do is enjoy life and ANYTHING that prevents you from that isn't worth it. Definitely worth a read if God has you in this space too.
