God doesn't need your help.
"Then Peter spoke up, 'We have left everything to follow you!''Truly I tell you,' Jesus replied, 'no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fieldsāalong with persecutionsāand in the age to come eternal life.'"
- Mark 10:28-30 (New International Version)
I was having a conversation with my mom a few weeks ago, catching her up on all that has transpired in my life since leaving my job (and, let me be a whole one hundred with you: asking her for some help to get out of a bind š).
As I shared how I started a coaching program for authors initially because I thought I needed to use coaching to fund Big Idea Food, she was just nodding her head. Once I got done explaining how I finally just dropped the whole program because I felt like I was supposed to be focusing on Big Idea Food this whole time and just trusting that He would provide, she hit me with one of those mama-isms only mama's know how to hit you with:
Girl, God don't need yo help!
It took her saying it a few times before it really sunk in:
If God Himself called you to do something, and you obeyed Him, why would you think that He didn't already have a plan to sustain you in the thing that HE called you to do?
Especially when, in my case, there had already been so much of His blessing attached to this brand. From the dozens of people who have reached out about how it's helped them to even my mom receiving a return on her initial seed sown into it. God's hand BEEN on this thang!Ā
I realized then that I had truly panicked after God called me to leave my job and, naturally, instead of trusting the flow God had already started, did the first thing I could think of to help ensure my survival. But as Jesus tells us in this week's scripture, it is a Biblical fact that you will receive a 100-fold return on whatever you sacrifice for the sake of the Kingdom. In short, He got you!Ā
I'm not gonna pretend that it's not extremely difficult to believe that though, because I obviously struggled with this a LOT. But, I can attest to the fact that as soon as I finally surrendered control and actually did the thing God called me off my job to do in the first place, clarity and clients and moneyyyyy started chasing me down. Literally, after struggling to get clients all summer, clients started flocking to meĀ withoutĀ much effort on my end. So much so that just a few days after meeting with my mom, I had received so much new business that it was like I never even needed to ask for her help.
When you finally obey God and do the thing He told you to do, watch Him move heaven & earth to supply everything you need to accomplish it.Ā
I hate to be this clichĆ©Ā but I am now a witness that the breakthrough you're seeking truly TRULY lies in your obedience. It is what it is š¤·š¾āāļø
If God has called you to sacrifice anything, to surrender something to Him, to let go of something, or to just DO something, I want you to know that He already has a plan to take care of things after you finally do it. Your job is to complete the assignment, then find out what He wants you to do next.Ā
And don't get caught up panicking after you complete the assignment, like I did, and scrambling for provision. Once you've obeyed, remember HeĀ alreadyĀ has a plan. Believe that. Trust that. Ask Him for the plan and He will reveal it to you. He's training you to flow in step with Him as you build what He's calling you to build. Because, at the end of the day, you're the oneĀ He'sĀ building.

1 Corinthians 3:9 & Ephesians 4:11-16Ā ā I know this journey in entrepreneurship may have you feeling like you're jumping through a bunch of hoops, but, in the words of a friend of mine, be encouraged that this process is ultimately designed to grow & mature you to look & be like Jesus; which is theĀ realĀ bag.Ā
Genesis 22:1-18Ā ā There is always reward for obeying God, even when it doesn't make sense. Just do it. He might even surprise you like He did with me by giving you more of the very thing you thought you had to sacrifice.Ā
Genesis 26:1-13Ā ā Even the old testament confirms the 100-fold principle Jesus was touching on here. Whatever you do in obedience to God reaps a return.
Proverbs 10:22Ā ā If you're struggling & toiling to make something happen, chances are the blessing of God isn't on it. Find the flow of the blessing & stay there. (A great resource on this isĀ this sermon seriesĀ from Pastor Mike Todd at Transformation Church)
